MLB suspends twelve players for PEDs

Twelve players have accepted 50-game suspensions for violating baseball’s drug policy, according to various media report.

The big news of the day was the much talked about suspension of Alex Rodriguez. The former MVP was given a grand total of 211 games, costing him the rest of the 2013 season and all of the 2014 season. Rodriguez is going to appeal and will play Monday tonight against the Chicago White Sox.

Here is a list of the other players suspend Monday:

  • Rangers outfielder Nelson Cruz
  • Tigers shortstop Jhonny Peralta
  • Phillies reliever Antonio Bastardo
  • Mets outfielder Jordany Valdespin
  • Padres shortstop Everth Cabrera
  • free-agent pitcher Jordan Norberto
  • Yankees catcher Francisco Cervelli
  • Mariners catcher/designated hitter Jesus Montero
  • Mets outfielder Cesar Puello
  • Astros minor league reliever Sergio Escalona
  • Padres minor league reliever Fautino De Los Santos
  • Yankees minor league outfielder Fernando Martinez

All of the players listed above have accepted the punishments given out by Major League Baseball based on findings in its investigation of the Biogenesis anti-aging clinic in Coral Gables, Fla.
