Abierto de La Gente

By - Jan 31, 2018

The Waste Management Open, also called "The People's Open" and one of the most popular and profitable stops on the PGA Tour, is under way at TPC Scottsdale. Our golf contributor Candace Oehler is there all week, and recorded an interview in Spanish with tournament chair Carlos Sugich, who outlines some of the features of this year's event.

Each year, the tournament is known for huge crowds, a stadium-style hole, live music after the day's play and a fan-friendly atmosphere.

Twenty-three of the top 30 players in the standings for the FedEx Cup will play this week. Players from Spanish-speaking countries in the WMPO field are Jon Rahm, Spain; Camilo Villegas, Colombia; Fabian Gomez, Argentina; Emiliano Grillo, Argentina.
