No. 14 Auburn University women’s tennis team beat Denver 4-0 during the opening match of the ITA Kickoff Weekend, Friday night in Durham, North Carolina, earning their first win of the season. The Tigers will take on Duke University today, at Ambler Tennis Stadium.
The winner of the match will earn a spot on the court at the 2024 ITA National Indoor Championships in Seattle. Live video and live scores from Saturday’s championship game will be available online at goduke.com.

Ariana Arseneault and Angella Okutoyi teamed up for the first time this season and won their match by a score of 6-4. Carolyn Ansari and Ava Esposito Cogan captured double points for the first time with a 6-4 victory.
Sophomore DJ Bennett wasted no time in helping the Tigers win their first singles match against the Pioneers, earning a quick 6-0, 6-2 win over Caroline Driscoll.

Arseneault also earned a strong straight-sets victory over Britt Pursell to bring Auburn close to victory. In the second set against Pursell, Arseneault won 70% of the total points and at one point had 10 consecutive points during the winning effort.
Ansari got off to a great start in her match against Andrea Beltran by winning 6-3 in the opening set. The fifth-year senior then fought back during the second set that she once trailed 4-2 to win by a score of 6-3, 7-5 and clinch the match for the Tigers. Okutoyi, Flach and Cogan had the lead in each of their respective games when the team’s victory was achieved.
