DeChambeau emerged this Thursday as the best in the first round of the Augusta Masters by completing a round of 65 strokes, 7 under par. Behind him, his compatriot Scottie Scheffler trailed by just one stroke. The first round had to be interrupted due to weather conditions, which delayed the scheduled start by two and a half hours.

The conclusion will take place on Friday. Strong winds marked the day at Augusta National. DeChambeau is seeking his first green jacket and made it clear from the start, adding three birdies in the first three holes. Meanwhile, Rahm began his title defense with a stroke over par after the first round.

The second part of the round was problematic for him with four bogeys, two of them on the 17th and 18th, leaving him with a bitter taste in his mouth as he headed to the clubhouse. Nicknamed El Niño (the child) and professional since 1999, he is a member of the PGA Tour and the European Tour.
