Iga Swiatek’s racket used during the French Open final has been auctioned off for around $63k and all of the funds will go to charity. Swiatek, 22, won her third French Open title this year after beating Karolina Muchova in the final.
In Poland, motorsport icons organized an auction and their goal was to collect funds for charities fighting to raise awareness of road accidents involving children. According to the data, there were 1794 road accidents involving children in Poland last year and sadly 54 of them tragically lost their lives.
The auction organized collected around $530k.
Swiatek has a history of supporting charities
For three consecutive years, Swiatek has been making donations to support mental health organizations. Swiatek, who has improved her mental health by working with psychologist Daria Abramowicz, knows extremely well how important it is to have help available when battling something.
On this year’s World Mental Health Day, Swiatek donated around $70k to support mental health charities. “Each year around World Mental Health Day I have a special time when I stop for a moment and appreciate all the work on myself I do everyday as a person and as a tennis player.
You know that this is already my small tradition to use this time to remind how important it is to prioritize the mental health of ourselves and our loved ones. I speak openly about how important it is to me and I want to speak through my actions as well, that’s why this year I will donate 300 000 PLN to UNICEF Poland for help in the field of mental health in Poland and all over the world.
Thanks to donations from people UNICEF can support children, teenagers, families and communities in taking care of their mental health. I would like to encourage you to have a look around and see if there’s someone there who could use your help,” Swiatek announced in October.
