The legendary European Tour golf competition saw the consecration of a new talent: for the first time in history, a Japanese player won the prestigious title of best rookie of the season. The jury, made up of illustrious representatives of the DP World Tour, the Royal and Ancient Golf Club of St.
Andrews and the Association of Golf Writers, had no doubts in awarding the award to Ryo Hisatsune, author of an excellent season: 27 tournaments played, 20 cuts passed, 5 top tens and a brilliant third place in the Magical Kenya Oen presented by Absa.
All this, together with the victory in the Cazoo Open de France, one of the most important tournaments of the entire competition, allowed the young Japanese champion to obtain a full card for both the DP World Tour and the PGA Tour.
Hisatsune says he is elated and honored to have been the first Japanese to have won such a prestigious competition.
Ryo Hisatsune, results
Three years ago, during the Qualifying School in Japan, I was deprived of my beloved golf card.
However, with tenacity and determination, I decided to challenge the Abema Tour, also known as the Japanese Challenge. Fortunately, I had the opportunity to show my skills, winning three races which allowed me to get the card for the Japan Tour again.
My journey has been long and troubled, but my perseverance has prevailed: last year I also obtained the card for the DP World Tour, demonstrating that with perseverance and commitment everything is possible. And I couldn’t believe my luck when I learned I had earned my PGA Tour card.
I’m just a 21 year old boy, but my journey has already been enriched with breathtaking results. There is no limit to the dreams that can be achieved with the right amount of dedication and sacrifice. The rules of golf are relatively complicated compared to other sports because they are applied outdoors, close to nature and animals.
Respect for the rules is a basic element in the game of golf, which, almost always based on the self-control and free conscience of the players, often sees distorted results, consciously at times, but often unconsciously or through carelessness, due to non-compliance on the part of many players of the game rules.
In addition to rules, golf adheres to a code of conduct, known as etiquette, which generally means playing the round with due respect for the golf course and other players. Etiquette is an essential component of this sport.
