Nadal plays Tuesday in Barcelona
Monday’s action at the Barcelona Open saw Alexandre Muller, Matteo Arnaldi, Roberto Bautista Agut, Facundo Diaz Acosta, Nick Hardt, Harold Mayot, Brandon Nakashima and Marco Trungelliti all advance to the second round.
Veteran Bautista Agut picked up a much-needed win in just under two hours over Roman Safiullin. Bautista Agut, who is a staple in Spanish tennis, will next face No. 7 seed Karen Khachanov.
Nadal Returns on Tuesday
Elsewhere, former world No. 1 and 22-time Major winner Rafael Nadal will make his return to clay-court tennis on Tuesday. The electrifying Spaniard will face Flavio Cobolli for a place in the second round. Nadal has indicated that this year may be his final on Tour.
Alcaraz Out of Barcelona
Two-time defending champion Carlos Alcaraz was forced with withdraw from the Barcelona Open on Sunday after a continued right arm injury. The 20-year-old hasn’t played on Tour since the Miami Open in Florida.
The Spaniard is slated to play the Mutua Madrid Open in the Spanish capital next week. He is also the defending champion of that event.

BMW OPEN—Munich, Germany
Monday’s results in Munich, Germany at the BMW Open saw Alejandro Moro Canas oust Dominic Thiem in straight sets and No. 6 seed Jack Draper defeat Vit Kopriva 6-1, 5-7, 6-4.
Elsewhere, Alex Michelsen and Rudolf Molleker also cruised into the second round.
Tuesday’s action in Munich will feature Felix Auger-Aliassime and Cristian Garin.
Danish star Holger Rune is two-time defending champion and will look for a three-peat this week. We will have to defeat the likes of top seed Alexander Zverev, No. 3 seed Taylor Fritz and and No. seed Jan-Lennard Struff if he is to be successful.

TIRIAC OPEN—Bucharest, Romaina
Clay-court action began on Monday in Bucharest, Romania with Federico Coria, No. 5 seed Mariano Navone, Arthur Rinderknech and Thiago Seyboth Wild all progressing to the second round.
Seyboth Wild, who continues to prove that his game is suited to the top-tiers of the sport, will next face Navone for play in the quarterfinals.
Tuesday’s schedule in Bucharest will see Stan Wawrinka, Denis Shapovalov and David Goffin all take to the court.
