World No. 1 Novak Djokovic has withdrawn from next week’s Miami Open in Florida.
The Serbian star had this to say on his X account today.
Hi Miami!
Unfortunately I won’t be playing the @MiamiOpen this year. At this stage of my career, I’m balancing my private and professional schedule. I’m sorry that I won’t experience some of the best and most passionate fans in the world. I’m looking fw competing in MI in future!— Novak Djokovic (@DjokerNole) March 16, 2024
Djokovic, who is yet to win a title in 2024, will likely shift his attention the clay-courts in Europe. The 24-time Major winner is slated to next compete at the Rolex Monte Carlo Masters in Monaco.
With the Olympic Games coming up in the Summer at Roland Garros, honing his clay-court skills will be top-of-mind for the greatest male player ever.
Rafael Nadal, who pulled out of the BNP Paribas Open and the Miami Open, is also scheduled to the play in Monaco. Nadal has won the Monte Carlo title 11 times.
The Rolex Monte Carlo Masters is set to begin April 6 – 14.
