Emma Raducanu has been spotted working with this coach for past week

Emma Raducanu has been working with her childhood coach Nick Cavaday at the National Tennis Centre for the past, via The Daily Mail. Raducanu, 21, has had five different coaches since starting her career in 2021. Most recently, Raducanu split with coach Sebastian Sachs in June, a month after announcing three surgeries.

Earlier this month, Raducanu announced her comeback would start in the first week of the 2024 season at the ASB Classic in Auckland. Ahead of her return, Raducanu has been spotted on the practice court with Cavaday, a coach who worked with the Briton during her development years.

According to The Daily Mail, coach Cavaday has a good relationship with Raducanu’s family and her father Ian. Also, The Daily Mail reported that Raducanu’s management declined to make any comments regarding a potential partnership with Cavaday but the report also states that it “seems likely” that coach Cavaday will accompany the 2021 US Open for at least the next month since the new season is just around the corner.

Will Raducanu announce Cavaday as her coach for 2024?

Raducanu, a former world No 10, has received lots of criticism for constantly changing coaches. To many, it was absolutely shocking when Raducanu decided to fire coach Andrew Richardson after her 2021 US Open.

Since splitting with Richardson, Raducanu also had stints with Sachs, Torben Beltz and Dmitry Tursunov. Overall, Raducanu changed five different coaches since 2021 Wimbledon. In October, Raducanu explained why she felt the need at times to change coaches.

“I ask my coaches a lot of questions. On certain occasions, they haven’t been able to keep up with the questions I’ve asked and maybe that’s why it ended. It’s something I’ve always done. I keep provoking and asking questions to coaches and challenging their thinking as well.

I’m not someone that you can just tell me what to do and I’ll do it, I need to understand why and then I’ll do it,” Raducanu told the BBC in October.
