Following his brain surgery, Gary Woodland will make his comeback at the Sony Open

Gary Woodland will play in the Sony Open in Hawaii, coming back after brain surgery last year. He had surgery to extract a brain lesion after trying medicine. Woodland had said he’d be back, and now, he’s confirmed it by committing to play in the Sony Open. Woodland is prepared to put in his best effort and get back to winning. Many feel he has the potential for great achievements, considering the qualities he’s shown before.

In November, Woodland shared that this journey has been tough, but he’s grateful for the progress and the constant love and support from everyone. He mentioned how this support has made a difficult process a bit easier for him and his family. Woodland extended his thanks to everyone and expressed excitement about seeing them all in the coming year.  The support from those closest to him gave him a huge motivation to fight.

September surgery

Following his surgery in September, reports from Woodland’s team confirmed that most the tumor had been successfully removed.

“After a long surgery today, the majority of the tumor has been removed and he is currently resting,” -they wrote on social media.

The family sought privacy in such moments and hoped for the best. Now, several months later, there is tremendous optimism that Woodland will return to winning ways and pick up where he left off. This is truly another great story in the world of golf that evokes many emotions.

“At this time, the family requests space and privacy to be together. Thank you all for your thoughts and prayers as he gets started on the road to recovery.”

Fans expect Woodland to show his class upon his return. It is certain that it will not be easy to have great performances after a long absence, but the very fact that Woodland is returning causes happiness.
