Both players served well in the next three games, reaching 5-5 and increasing the drama. Rune held after deuce in the 11th game and created three set points on the return a few minutes later. The Dane seized the third with a perfect lob, leveling the overall score at 1-1 and keeping his semi-final chances alive.
Holher stayed composed in games three and five, denying break points and staying on the positive side. He wasted a crucial break point in the eighth game, allowing his rival to level the score at 4-4. Sinner brought his A-game on the return in the ninth game, creating three break chances.
The Italian converted the third with a beautiful volley winner, moving 5-4 up and serving for the victory. Sinner attacked at 30-30 and earned a match point. He seizes it to emerge at the top and reach the last four in style.
