Jason Day and Lydia Ko win the mixed event

The recent edition of the Grant Thornton Invitational, a mixed team tournament hosted in Florida by the PGA Tour and the LPGA Tour, saw the triumph of the duo formed by the Australian Jason Day and the New Zealander Lydia Ko.

Former number one in men’s and women’s golf respectively, the two stood out with a total score of “-26”, overtaking Canadians Corey Conners and Brooke Henderson in second place with “-25”, and Swedes Ludvig Aberg and Madelene Sagstrom in third with “-24”, after a spectacular comeback in the third and final round.

The prestigious result guaranteed Day and Ko a handsome reward of one million dollars to be shared equally. You have to go back to 1999, during the celebration of the JCPenney Classic, to find the last mixed team event organized jointly by the two golf associations.
