Miami Heat’s Jimmy Butler surprised fans by jetting off to Oshkosh, Wisconsin, with a special mission—to watch his teammate Nikola Jovic in action for the Sioux Falls Skyforce, the Heat’s G League affiliate.
Butler, expressing his admiration for Jovic. “Niko,” he said when asked why he took the trip, per Anthony chiang. “Got to go see my boy. I’m a huge Niko fan. I think he’s going to help this organization well after I’m done here. That’s my dawg. I love him to death.”
In a thrilling match against the Wisconsin Herd, Jovic, the 20-year-old Serbian forward, showcased his skills with a team-high 26 points, although the Skyforce narrowly fell short with a final score of 123-121.
Drafted at No. 27 in 2022, Jovic was assigned to Sioux Falls to gain valuable playing time, a move that aligns with the Heat’s developmental strategy.
This season, entering his sophomore year, Jovic is averaging 6.5 points, 7.5 rebounds, and 2 assists in just 14 minutes over two NBA games.
