Luka Doncic worked his magic against the Lakers on Wednesday and LeBron James was in awe of what the Dallas superstar was doing.
The Mavs got the 104-101 win over the Lakers, but not before LA orchestrated a 20-point comeback.
It was Luka’s teammate Kyrie Irving who shot the game-winner, but Luka’s skills were well and truly on show during the contest, as he even managed to throw a wild nutmeg pass through LeBron’s legs.
Luka was the game’s leading scoring as he finished the night with 30 points, totalled 13 rebounds and eight assists.
LeBron led the Lakers in scoring with 26 points, nine rebounds and seven assists and was asked about where Doncic can go in the future and what he can achieve in the basketball space.
“Wherever he wants to,” LeBron said. “It’s up to him. It’s without question: It’s up to him.”
Dallas owner Mark Cuban also recently sang Doncic’s praises and recalled the moment he realised that Luka was destined for greatness.
“When a kid’s 13 and he goes to play in Europe against grown men, you hear about it, right? And then you kind of question it, like, ‘Okay, it’s Europe, you don’t really know,’” Cuban said on All The Smoke.
“And then the scouts were saying, ‘Look, there’s a 16-year-old, 17-year-old kid playing against OKC, and he’s fearless.’ And so then we started really paying attention, and it was interesting because our scouts really liked him, and our analytics guys loved him. The scouts said, ‘Okay, they had eight number one,’ and our numbers guys are like, ‘This is the only superstar in the draft.”
Luka has definitely proved he is a unique talent since then, and this season so far the Slovenian star is putting up some damn impressive numbers.
The 24-year-old is averaging 30.5 points as the league’s third best scorer behind Joel Embiid and Kevin Durant to go with 8.3 rebounds and 8.1 assists.
