Meg Lanning, Shefali Verma power Capitals for first win in WPL 2024

Chasing just a modest target of 120, Capitals openers Meg Lanning and Shafali Varma strike up a stellar partnership as they eye their first full points

Capitals have made a good start to the game with Marizanne Kapp dismissing Alyssa Healy, McGrath and Vrinda for just 3-2, At the end of 10 overs, the Warriorz were down 40-4 with Radha dismissing Harris. However, Sehrawat tried to consolidate them with a gritty 45 but was dismissed as Warriorz set a mere target of 120.

Having lost a last-ball thriller against the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) just two nights ago, the Warriorz will look for redemption at the same ground (M Chinnaswamy Stadium).

Meg Lanning’s capitals have suffered a similar fate, losing to defending champions the Mumbai Indians in the season opener due to a last-ball miracle by S Sajana. With the chance to move to the third spot on the WPL 2024 Points Table, the two Australian teammates will look to turn their friendship into a rivalry and hunt for their maiden win.
