MrBeast jokingly says that Lunsford’s arm size is more massive than MrBeast’s entire body.

Popular American YouTuber MrBeast (James Stephen “Jimmy” Donaldson) is known for his video productions, large giveaways, and fast-paced wit. But he was stopped in his tracks when he saw 2023 Mr. Olympia Derek Lunsford in the gym.

On Dec. 14, 2023, Lunsford published a video on his YouTube channel of MrBeast reacting to Lunsford’s physique a few weeks before Lunsford’s Mr. Olympia triumph. Watch MrBeast’s reaction below:

Derek Lunsford’s Physique

This video featuring Lunsford and MrBeast was shot before the 2023 Mr. Olympia, which took place in early November. Before showing off the body, Lunsford made an agreement with MrBeast: Lunsford and MrBeast would train together if Lunsford became the first-ever multi-division Olympia champion — winning gold in the 212 and Men’s Open categories. They shook on it, and Lunsford nabbed the title from Hadi Choopan in Orlando, FL.

MrBeast had never witnessed a Mr. Olympia competitor in person before Lunsford. MrBeast’s reactions to the muscle-bound physique were commensurate with the intensity of Lunsford’s striations.

What are you, a brick wall? That is crazy.

Lunsford took MrBeast and his crew through different bodybuilding “mandatories,” which are the poses the IFBB expects competitors to perform. The front relaxed pose was first, flaring arms and lats out and vacuuming the abdominals. Next were quarter turns, showing the physique off from each side and the back. One of MrBeast’s entourage commented:

You have more muscle in one arm than my entire body.

Lunsford progressed with the front double biceps pose into a lat spread and side chest. MrBeast asks Lunsford how many calories he consumes. Lunsford, about 12 days out from Mr. Olympia, ate very little to cut down as much body fat as possible for the big stage.

The judging criteria at the Olympia are comprised of shape, symmetry, conditioning, hardness, fullness, graininess, and the quality of the posing to present the full package.

Trying to get as low [body fat] as possible…keep the size of the muscle…the shape of the aesthetics…and the detail.

MrBeast and company were flabbergasted. When asked how long it took Lunsford to achieve his physique, the soon-to-be Mr. Olympia champion expressed his bodybuilding journey began at age 15 — half a lifetime later, Lunsford is the number one bodybuilder on earth.
