World no.1 Novak Djokovic sent the Serbia-CZE tie to a decider on Tuesday, clinching the three set victory after two hours and 16 minutes.
Novak took the opening set in convincing fashion, breaking his rival twice – in the fourth and sixth games. But Lehecka stormed back and claimed the second set 7-6 (3) to force a decider.
The Belgrade native quickly bounced back. The third set was a one-way traffic. Djokovic raced to a 5-0 lead, and two games later he sealed the triumph.
Marketa Vondrousova had previously earned a close win for the Czech Republic in the opening match of the day, when she outplayed Olga Danilovic 6-1, 3-6, 6-3.
Serbia needs a victory to secure its spot in the quarter-finals as group winners, otherwise, China will win the group.
