TCU offered a stark foreshadowing of its likely role in determining a national champion. Tomas Jirousek and Kaj Quirijns won 6-1 on court three over Alex Garcia and Carl Roothman on court three earlier in the game.
Jirousek, a fifth-year senior, and freshman Quirijns played their first game together. Duncan Chan and Lui Maxted grabbed the doubles point shortly after, downing Isaac Becroft and Alessio Basile by a 6-2 margin. Jack Pinnington and Pedro Vives teamed up for the first time ever on one.
They trailed Tyler Zink and Erik Schiessl 4-3 but were serving at the time of serve.
Jirousek triumphed 6-1 in the first set against Schiessl in the fourth, who was also forced to retire and gave TCU a 2-0 lead. Freshman Julian Alonso earned his second doubles singles victory at six not long after the walkover at four.
He defeated Roothman 6-2, 6-0 and improved his season singles record to 4-2. Pinnington, who celebrated his 20th birthday on Saturday, earned the decisive victory. He defeated 18th-ranked Zink, 6-3, 6-2, in the top flight. Pinnington, b.
8 in the ITA singles rankings, he has won four of his last five matches, all on court one. The sophomore boasts a team-leading 24-7 singles record, with 18 victories coming against ranked opponents.

Maxted, who entered as the winner of seven of his last eight completed matches, led Garcia 6-3, 4-4. On court five, Duncan Chan took what was seemingly an insurmountable 6-4, 5-3 lead over Basile.
