Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) batter Rinku Singh has shed light on the reason behind his limited fielding appearances in recent matches, despite being known for his fielding prowess.
Injury limits Rinku Singh fielding
During IPL 2024 match vs Rajasthan Royals (RR) on Tuesday, KKR fielding coach Ryan ten Doeschate confirmed that Rinku Singh has been carrying a side injury. This explains his exclusion from fielding duties in the last couple of games. The team management is prioritizing Rinku’s recovery and will only reintroduce him to fielding when he’s fully fit.
“Rinku Singh is carrying a slight side injury. He is not fully fit and we want to give him some rest, once he is fully recovered, he will back on the ground as fielder,” said Ryan ten Doeschate at the Eden Gardens.
Rinku Singh Confirms Niggle
Rinku Singh himself corroborated this information after the defeat vs Rajasthan Royals, stating, “I had a bit of niggle so I wasn’t able to field. The next match on 21, I will do proper fielding.” He expects to be ready for a full fielding role in the next match on April 21st.
Focus on Recovery
While the injury might be a setback, the focus for both Rinku Singh and the KKR management remains on ensuring a complete recovery. This will allow him to return to the field at his full potential and contribute significantly to the team’s performance.
